My son enjoys cooking and concocting his own creation. He saw a recipe that caught his interest in a cookbook, "MaterChef Cookbook" and came up with his own version of the "egg in purgatory". His variation is very simple and easy to make, it's yummy and nutritious for a quick breakfast, it's almost like eating a toast except there's an egg in the middle. Here's the recipe in his own words and picture.
Ingredients:
Ingredients:
- 1 slice of bread(any kind, not toasted but not frozen)
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Parmesan cheese
- 1 small skillet
- 1 small cup
- Heat the skillet over medium heat and melt the butter evenly around the skillet.
- Meanwhile, take the bread and using the mouth of the cup, make a hole in the center of the bread.
- Take the center piece of the bread and toast it on the skillet for 1 to 2 minutes, set aside.
- Take the rest of the bread and toast one side of it for 2 minutes.
- Flip it over and crack the egg into the center hole in the bread.
- Cook for 4 minutes and then flip over and cook another 3 minutes.
- Set on a plate with other piece of bread and garnish with a pinch of Parmesan cheese.
Cool! That is very interesting!
